Super Hair Reduction (SHR)
Super Hair Reduction (SHR)
We understand the self-esteem issues relating to body hair, especially facial hair in women and back hair in men, which can be very debilitating. Permanently reduce unwanted hair on the face and body-no more shaving, waxing, ingrown hairs or 'razor rash'.
Laser was the first generation of hair removal, then there came IPL-the second generation and E light the third generation. These hair reduction methods were slow, very painful, only lighter skin types could be treated, only darker hair types could be treated and all utilised high temperatures in a short sharp burst which increased the chance of complications such as burns, blistering and scarring.
Permanent hair reduction that is pain and side-effect free was unheard of until recently. Then the latest generation of permanent hair reduction, SHR, was born! It uses low energy with a very high repetition rate of shots, heating the skin gradually by a comfortable 45 degrees, instead of 65-72 degrees with traditional IPL. The in-motion technology gently warms the skin resulting in a pain-free treatment. Research has shown that using a slower but longer heating process to treat hair is considerably more effective than high and short bursts of energy. Faster, safer and less painful!
How many treatments are required?
We recommend 8 to 10 treatments, depending on the area. You may purchase a package of 10 treatments for each area or alternatively, you may pay individually. Women with hormonal hair such as Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease or Menopausal Hair on the face and neck will require occasional maintenance treatments.
How far apart are the treatments spaced?
Most treatments are usually spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart.
Do I have to grow the hair prior to having a treatment?
No, hair actually needs to be short for the treatment and is shaved prior to each treatment.
What should I avoid during the treatments?
No spray tans or artificial tanning products and no plucking, waxing, electrolysis or bleaching hair 2 weeks prior to each treatment. Hair may be plucked out 3 to 4 days after each treatment up until 2 weeks before the next treatment.
What skin types can be treated?
Unlike traditional IPL and laser, virtually all skin types/ colours can be treated, even tanners. The Unilux Pro used at Lithgow Laser Clinic, made by Universal Medical Aesthetics is the only company offering the RTGA machines with patented SPT FCA Technology that treats dark skin types including suntanned skin. Lighter hair including red, blonde and some grey hair may also be treated resulting in great outcomes.
Why is SHR painless?
The in-motion technique uses multiple shots with a high repetition rate at much lower energy while the advanced cooling system uses sapphire cooling + air cooling + water cooling+ SPT cooling to cool the skins surface preventing superficial burns. This method gently heats the hair follicles producing what most people describe as a ‘warm tingling sensation’. It feels very different to traditional IPL laser hair removal that uses high amounts of energy and heat.
Is SHR safe?
SHR technology treatments have provided safe and effective hair reduction treatments for millions of people. The in-motion technology is the newest, most advanced method to permanently reduce unwanted hair. Lithgow Laser Clinic uses the 3500W Unilux Pro made by Universal Medical Aesthetics which is TGA (Australia), FDA(US) and EU(Europe) Medical CE certified. It outperforms any machine in its class by delivering reliable, accurate and consistent pulse fluency and duration.
Regular application of aloe vera gel is highly recommended after treatments. This will soothe the skin and dramatically improve recovery time. Keep the aloe vera in the fridge for added 'cooling ' effect. If the area is still uncomfortable, you can cool the area with a coldpack for 10 to 20 minutes at a time.
